For the first time Villa Melnik Winery produces wine with Protected Designation of Origin - Melnik. The PDO identifies products originating from a specific region and bearing unique characteristics linked to their geographical origin and the traditional techniques used in their production. Such quality designations of origin exist throughout Europe - for example, PDO Chianti and PDO Prosecco in Italy; PDO Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne in France, PDO Rioja in Spain, etc. The Melnik PDO ranks alongside them and is a testament to quality.
