What’s there in common between a bottle of red wine and an animated film? At first glance, apparently nothing. But if we have time to see instead of just looking, we begin to detect some coincidences: the design of the label... the shadows... the person who designed it... the name of the wine... the one who produced it... But the greatest evidence unfolds when we taste the wine, especially if the film in question is about a vampire called KALI. And then... a good bottle of wine can last for an eternity. Vampires too... the one in this film, in any case, lives forever.
The 2020 growing year was very heterogeneous. A rainy winter was followed by a quite moderate spring, providing favourable conditions for the vines’ growth. On the other hand, the month of June was relatively cool and slowed down the growth cycle. July brought very high temperatures (the hottest since 1931), with three heat waves which reduced the yields somewhat. Harvesting began in the first weeks of August in the hottest areas and concluded in the higher-lying slopes at the end of September. Overall, the 2020 vintage was a good year for our red wines, which show full-bodied character with deep colour and firm tannins. After arriving at the Quinta de N?poles, the grapes were carefully destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures for approximately one week. A portion of the wine was matured in French oak barriques whereas the rest of the wine remained in stainless steel for about 6 months.
The wine boasts a beautiful, intense hue, revealing violet tones when swirled. Floral aromas combine with notes of red berries and a subtle minty character which lends the wine complexity and freshness. The palate is wonderfully round and elegant, with pronounced acidity. This is an uncomplicated red wine from the Douro Valley. A wine which shows off its origins and its abundance of grape varieties in an elegant, fresh and easy-drinking interpretation of the terroir.
