Tried the 2016 vintage again. It became better while being one year in the cellar. Still a more transparent and medium bodied wine but interesting, herb-style, alcoholic nose with light touches of smoke and chocolate. Hints of tobacco, medium lasting and dry finish. Was good with tagliatelle with spinach and salmon. Not my favourite but still a good mavrud.
I tried the 2016 vintage. Light to medium body. 12 months barrique which gives it good contour but in my eyes it's a flat wine. Easy to drink for everyday for sure but not a deep red fruity but more flat light red transparent wine without much complexity. The women liked it more than the guys...

Ilaya Mavrud Reserva has deep cherry red color. On the nose there are forest fruits and chocolate with confi nuances. Well balanced, good structure, soft tannins and long lasting finish.
Ilaya Mavrud Reserva is aged 18 months in oak barrels.
