The grapes for this wine come from Maddy Valley's own single vineyard, located next to the winery. The Chardonnay vineyard was established in 2007, and the 626 meter elevation, soils containing fine carbonate debris, constant air flow and temperature amplitudes are the factors that help us grow excellent grapes.
The wine is made from healthy grapes of optimum ripeness, from Medi Valley's own vineyards in the village of Smocchevo. It is harvested by hand and traditionally selected with precision in the vineyard itself. In the cellar, after re-selection and 14 hours of cold maceration with the zips, the separated juice is poured into specially made French oak barrels (second and third charge), in which it ferments at a temperature of 16-20°C. The harmony between the wine and the barrels, built up over 7 months, the malolactic fermentation, the ageing on fine lees and the batonnage, have shaped the structure, balanced the flavour and aroma and given this wine its finished elegance. At the right moment it was taken out of the barrels and bottled without stressful treatments.
We have achieved what we wanted - a balance between the richness and attractiveness of the variety, the specific terroir of Smokevo and our understanding of finesse and elegance.
Beautiful colour of old gold. Captivating aroma made of citrus, acacia honey, ripe exotic fruits, hints of vanilla. Rich yet elegant, complex and fruity taste. The finish is long and fruity. In the aftertaste, sensations of ripe sweetness, freshness and tenderness remain.
