Rosidi Mavrud

Rossidi is a boutigue wineri with limited series of wines, which are produced form own vineyard near the village Nikolaevo, Sliven - an area well known for its viticulture and wine.

To achieve the highest quality, grape yields are controlled, and the harvesting and selections are made manually.The wines mature in french and american oak barrels.

The grape varieties in their vineyards are Gewurtztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemakes are the yong and ambitious professionalists Peter Georgiev and Eduard Kurian.

Young and motivated wine lovers ( then) Eduard Kurian and Peter Georgiev started to grow vines and make wine because of their desire for a good wine. Just in time they decided: “Why don’t we make a limited quantity of fine wine for a closed group of wine connoisseurs.”

And so they plant their first vines in 2005. 400dka, from which they use only a small part for their own wines ( 10000 bottles per year)  and rest they sell to other as grape material. The terroire they use for their vineyards is actually a part of the old Nikolaevki massif close to Sliven with long-lived history ( since 1950), from where are made one of best Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines of the region.

Very rarely for example there is a storm of hail, and to rain it has to be very raining heavily in whole Bulgaria( like this 2012, May rains). There is almost any frost of the vineyards (except once in very small area). The soils are very promiscuous( clay, limestone, gravel and stone) and that’s the reason  they successfully managed to consolidate the massif and plant it with different grape varieties.

They pawn on Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir , Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  

Eduard Kurian is an electronic engineer pursuing his music interests since he was 5 years old. He worked in the Tax Agency, as a graphic designer too.  All activities - very different and far away from the wine industry. The only connection is the fact that he (Eduard Kurian) has an artistic personality and may be this is the secret for his successful story.

Not long time ago he attended an entry level of tasting training with Yana Petkova ( known Bulgarian wine educator, writer, journalist, taster) and then he got involved in the WSET London Diploma level. He is creating the labels of the wines by himself so that each of them is connected with and reflects the content of the bottle.   Eduard Kurian disclosed for us the fact that there is no label made before the wine is ready!
