Solaia is a blend of 75 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 % Sangiovesse, 5% Cabernet Franc
From the sunniest part of the Tignanello Hill, from the best grapes in the best vineyard, Solaia is born from the best selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sandiovese that are grown in the Solaia vineyard. The wine is aged 14 months in barriques and then 12 more months in the bottle. Solaia is only produced in superior vintages and was not produced in 1980, 1981, 1983,1984, and 1992.
Solaia shows a ruby red color. On the palate the wine is smooth which is the result of perfectly ripe grapes along with sensations of coffee, chocolate, mint, and licorice. The wine impresses for its finesse and structure, and is characterized by great elegance and aging potential, with its soft and velvety tannins.
