Tasting notes: the colour shows very slight golden shades, the result of the short ageing of some of the distillates in oak casks. The aroma is intense and distinctive for Muscat brandies. The typical notes of rose can be detected, but here the spectrum includes pleasant marshmallow aromas that quickly give way to surprising smoky nuances of sandalwood and sweet spices - cardamom, cloves and brown sugar.
The palate begins with a soft and gentle attack that brings a delicate sensation of white flowers, guel leaves followed by softly hinted notes of bergamot, dried apricot and tree bark. The aftertaste is long, layered and leaves a reminder of a pleasant honeyed note on the palate.
Cordon, 5-50 year old vines
Terroir characteristics: The vineyards are located on the low, hilly slopes of the Sredna Gora, in the region of the village of Lesichovo, between 250-350m above sea level, the exposure of which determines the even sunlight. The Topolnitsa River crosses the village in its lower reaches and is a leading factor in the mild microclimate, contributing to the full and timely ripening of the grapes.
They are grown organically, without the use of pesticides and herbicides, and fertilisation is by manure and inter-row grassing. The majority of the 134 acres of vines are young - 3-4 years old, just coming into fruiting, but the company also restores old plantings of the Muscat otonel variety (over 50 years old), and owns about 20 acres of well-developed 10-11 year old vines in active fruiting.
