Rosalea

It all started with two Czech entrepreneurs and wine lovers, fascinated by its centuries-old culture and history in the Bulgarian and Thracian lands. Petr and Vladia landed in Bulgaria in 2011, setting up an IT company, but as soon as they arrived they started looking for ways to open their own winery, creating a wine they love and can share, a wine whose origins they know well.

The year is 2014. With naivety and without much experience, the two optimists still manage to buy farmland in South Sakar. Two years later, they plant the eleven hectares of vines and the land becomes a vineyard. The initial attempt failed, however, and in 2017 and 2018 almost all the vines had to be replanted. The wine adventure becomes a series of small, seemingly innocuous steps that lead to a point where there is no looking back - realizing that winemaking is not a joke, but a serious craft and even an art. An art that cannot be realised without dedicated people.

In 2017, the company hired its first employee - agronomist Anelia Pavlova. Annie was unwise and inexperienced enough to accept the offer to restore the vineyards, but she also possessed enough headstrongness to carry out this mission. Over the next five years, she laid the groundwork in the company's production stages. From a freshly trained agronomist, in time she became a well-known and respected professional. For these accomplishments, Annie holds a particularly honored place in ROSALEA's history. She leaves the company in 2021, but leaves behind a beautiful piece of land full of life, accompanied by a group of people who maintain this liveliness on a daily basis. The leader of the group is Rumen Kirilov - a current agronomist, but also a loyal employee and friend of the winery since its inception.

In 2020, the first quantities of grapes suitable for wine production are available. Enologist Ekaterina Gargova joins the team. Thus, ROSALEA's famous first rosé was born. The 2021 vintage allows Katya to enrich and expand the winery's wine portfolio. The iconic "Writer's wine" series appears - varietal wines aged in high-end barrels. The "Writer's wine" line is nothing new, as the very idea was present in the owners' minds years earlier. Petr's wife, Zuzana, is both a writer and a passionate wine lover. The combination of these two passions of hers is at the heart of the Writer's wine story. Because every wine tells a story.
